SAHAYOG has been working since 2000 on maternal mortality in Uttar Pradesh in partnership with several community based organizations. One of the main pillars of SAHAYOG’s work around Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights has been with the MSAM – Mahila Swasthya Adhikar Manch – which is a grassroots forum of a collective of 8000 marginalized, rural poor, Dalit, tribal and Muslim women, actively working in 8 districts of Uttar Pradesh since 2006. The MSAM, from time to time, advocated for better health facilities through various campaigns, dialogues, collecting data, monitoring the quality of public health services and engaging with the public health system at the local level and District level.

In 2007, SAHAYOG started working with young people, focussed on building their awareness on Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights through a leadership based approach. The Tarang forum, for adolescents and youth, develop their own knowledge around their health and rights, and seek to take collective action for the betterment of themselves and their community.

Along with women and girls, we also work with men to bring about behavior change, engaging them to take responsibility for the health and rights of women and girls
